I recently was grocery shopping at my local Ralphs when I came across a few of La Morena products. I grabbed La Morena Jalapeño and La Morena Chipotle Sauce since they are both staple items in my pantry. While at the store I had the brilliant idea of recreating one of my favorite dishes from my childhood back in Mexicali for under $20.00!
Been Catholic I definitely don’t eat meat during “Semana Santa” which use to call for fish every Friday. Since I hardly remember how it use to taste back in Mexico I created my personal favorite recipe with a twist using La Morena.
Fish – 2 Avocados – 1 Onion – 1 Tomato – La Morena Jalapeño – La Morena Chipotle Sauce – 3 Lemons – Butter – Tortilla Chips – Sour Cream – Cabbage – Rice
Jalapeño Guacamole –
Finely cut the onions, tomatoes, jalapeño and carrots to add to a serving bowl. Then continue by adding vinegar from La Morena, lemon, salt, black pepper. Continue by smashing the avocado in a different bowl to prevent the vegetables from been smashed. Finally mix all of the ingredients together and add a few chips for a finishing touch.
Chipotle Salsa –
Start by grabbing the blender and adding a small container of sour cream, few pieces of Chipotle Sauce from La Morena, lemon, and salt. Blend all together for at least 2-3 minutes to insure a soft mixture.
Spicy Fish –
Season the fish with lemon, season salt, pepper, paprika and chipotle salsa. Cook the fish until it’s very crispy and juicy.
Now that everything is ready to be served bring out your favorite serving plates and decor as desire. I use package white rice to help save time and ensure it’s cooked properly which is why I didn’t include a recipe.
I find La Morena to be an authentic Mexican food brand that provides a true Latin food taste. If you are craving the true taste from Mexico don’t hesitate to pick up a few items from La Morena. As you can see the recipe is very easy to prepare and is budget friendly.
